Programs and Activities

Events Supported by PTSA

Below is a partial list of events run or supported by the PTSA:

8th Grade Promotion: Seventh grade families decorate, set up and clean up so eighth grade families can enjoy the festivities.

Academic Enrichment: Fund things like Academic Power Hour, Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, Classroom Mini Grants.  Provide treasurer services to Science Olympiad and Math League.  Provide proctoring services during Math League competitions.

Adaptive PE: Provide funding for PE program that brings together differently-abled students.

Candy & Gift Drives: Coordinate donations of Halloween candy and December holiday gifts to children in need, military families, and/or patients at Rady Children’s Hospital.

Career Day: Recruit and organize community members to present information on their career and industry to student

Carnival: Help run carnival games at this event, which is part of ASB’s Spirit Week.

Classroom Mini Grants: Provide funding for classroom, department, and school needs not funded by the district.

Dance Parties/Movies:  Set up, chaperone, serve refreshments and clean up at 4 events throughout the year.

Directory: Work with administrators to produce a directory so families can connect with each other.

Family Fun Nights:  Help plan and run 2-3 events per year that encourage family connections.

Hospitality:  Plan special meals and treats for teachers, parents or families at various events throughout the year.

Parent Education Nights: Bring in speakers and local experts to discuss topics of interest to middle school parents.

Red Ribbon Week: ASB plans a week of activities promoting healthy choices and discouraging drug use.  The PTSA supports ASB with funding and volunteers as needed.

Reflections: This National PTA arts program encourages students to submit original works of Art, Literature, Music or Dance based on a specific theme, while increasing community awareness of the importance of the arts in education. For more information, visit the Reflection page.

Staff Appreciation Week: Plan a week of activities and meals to show our gratitude to teachers and staff.

Talent Show: Provide an opportunity for students to perform and share their talents with the school community.

Volunteers At Large:  When a staff member or board member needs help with a special project, we’ll email the volunteer list and see who is available.
